INCEPTION FUNBOARD
Learn faster. Catch more waves. Keep progressing.
The Inception is a stable, forgiving EPS funboard created for beginners and surfers progressing from a foamie. It provides the paddle power and confidence needed to catch more waves, with enough control and manoeuvrability to keep developing your turns as your surfing improves.
Built for Learning — Not Just Starting
A beginner board should make the early stages of surfing easier without becoming limiting as soon as you improve.
The Inception carries generous volume through a stable, user-friendly outline, making paddling, wave entry and standing up more manageable. Its rounded pin tail and refined bottom shape give it enough responsiveness to help you learn to trim, change direction and surf across the wave.
It is a board you can start on, progress on and continue enjoying well beyond your first successful rides.
Who Is the Inception For?
The Inception is a great choice if you:
• Are learning to surf and want a stable fibreglass board
• Are ready to progress from a foamie
• Want easier paddling and earlier wave entry
• Need extra volume without moving straight to a traditional longboard
• Want a durable board that supports continued progression
• Are an experienced surfer seeking an easy, high-volume board for small days
The 7'6 and 8'0 are the core sizes for most beginners. The 9'0 suits riders who prioritise maximum stability, paddle power and value in a longer beginner longboard.
How Does It Ride?
The Inception feels stable, predictable and easy to control.
Additional nose rocker helps reduce nose-diving and provides more control through take-offs and turns. Medium-to-full rails carry volume through the board, improving stability and making paddling easier.
Rolled vee through the middle transitions into vee with double concave, helping the board move smoothly from rail to rail as you learn to turn. The rounded pin tail keeps the board controlled without making it feel stiff or difficult to manoeuvre.
The result is more wave-catching confidence with enough performance to support genuine progression.

Which Size Should I Choose?
7'2 — 7'2 x 22 x 2 11/16 — 50L
Best for lighter beginners, teenagers and progressing surfers who already have some basic paddling and take-off ability. It is the most manoeuvrable option but provides less stability than the larger sizes.
7'6 — 7'6 x 22 3/16 x 2 11/16 — 53L
One of the two core Inception sizes. Best for lighter-to-average adult beginners, teenagers moving from a foamie and surfers wanting a manageable mini-mal they will not quickly outgrow.
8'0 — 8'0 x 22 3/4 x 2 3/4 — 58L
The safest all-round choice for many adult beginners. It provides additional stability and paddle power while remaining easier to carry and turn than a full-sized longboard.
9'0 — 9'0 x 22 7/8 x 3 — 72L
The maximum-stability option. Best for larger beginners, less-confident or less-mobile surfers, and price-conscious customers wanting an easy-paddling beginner longboard. It catches waves easily but is less manoeuvrable than the 7'6 and 8'0.
Inception vs Other ECS Models
Choose the Inception for learning, foamie progression and maximum confidence.
Choose the Flowmaster when you are ready for a more traditional longboard feel with additional fin versatility.
Choose the Spoon for an all-round longboard combining classic style with greater refinement.
Choose the ACE for lightweight performance once your surfing is more established.
Choose the Jack Rabbit XL if you are already an experienced surfer seeking speed and manoeuvrability rather than beginner stability.
Why ECS?
Since 2006, ECS has designed boards to help surfers enjoy more time in the water.
The Inception applies that philosophy to the learning process: easier paddling, more successful take-offs and a shape that continues to reward you as your confidence grows.
Start with More Confidence
Learning is more enjoyable when your board helps rather than holds you back.
The Inception gives you the stability to begin, the control to improve and the versatility to keep surfing long after the basics click.
